A Doula is a person who provides emotional and practical support to you and your partner, throughout your pregnancy, birthing journey and the days beyond. Doulas do not offer medical advice, rather they offer a wealth of informational support and compassionate, kind and connected care with the ability to help empower women and pregnant people in having a positive birthing experience.
My name is Eleanor and I share my life with my husband, and three beautiful boys on the edge of Dartmoor. For as long as I can remember I have felt a calling and connection to the journey of pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. It is a true honour to be present and witness a pregnant person’s power and strength throughout the sacred and honoured journey into parenthood. I believe it is fundamentally important that women and pregnant people have the right to be heard, their choices listened to and respected, and to feel safe and supported throughout their journey. I have worked in the past as an NHS midwife, and while it has been an honour and privilege to support and care for pregnant people in this way, my relationship to, and understanding of this role has profoundly changed over the past few years. I have felt a true connection and calling towards a holistic way of supporting people on a deeper and more intimate level, and building relationships based upon trust and respect over time. As such, I trained as a birth and postnatal Doula with Conscious Birthing. In my role as a trauma informed Doula, my job is to support you in your journey, helping to support you in making empowered decisions in the knowledge and belief that you know what is right for you and your baby. I will provide non-judgemental support, listen to you and be by your side every step of the way, holding space for you to explore your options and discover strategies to help you feel safe, and in control. As a full spectrum doula, I am here to support you with any decision you make. This includes those making the deeply personal decision to release their pregnancy, or those experiencing the devastation of miscarriage or loss. As a Doula, I am dedicated to providing you with compassionate, respectful, kind and connected care, to be by your side and help you through your grief.
I am happy to travel up to an hour from Buckfast, and cover all areas in between. So please do get in touch if you would like to learn more about my offerings, would like to chat or have any questions at all.
